Ninnaji Temple and Omuro-yaki Origin

Ninna-ji Temple was built by the 59th Emperor Uda in 888.

For a long time, Member of the Imperial family has been served as the master of priest at Ninnaji Temple.Ninhaji Temple is named to the UNESCO-designated World Heritage Sites list.

 

In 1647, the 107th Emperor Goyosei built the kiln in the yard of Ninna-ji Temple. The first potter was Ninsei Nonomura from Tamba which is origin of Omuro-yaki. Omuro Ware is one of a famous Kyoto Ware.

Royal Kyoto, Ninshu was appointed Ninna-ji Temple warrant in 1982. The NINSHU brand is allowed the usage of the Japanese Emperor's mark, the Imperial Seal of Japan.

The products are made by the classic technique of clay hand throwing. They were individually crafted by highly skilled pottery masters who pursue genuine beauty of color variation during firing. Each piece is unique and made with the craftsmanship and dedication of the pottery masters.
